Description
Background

Native to Borneo, Bucephalandra 'Kedagang' is known for its rippled, narrow leaves with a unique dark green, occasionally brownish hue enhanced with bluish metallic reflections and dense silvery dots. The underside is silvery-white to pale violet, complemented by wine-red rhizome tips and petioles. It spreads via rhizome, forming attractive clumps. Though generally slow, it grows faster than many Bucephalandra types.

Placed in the midground or foreground, its colouration and leaf texture contrasts with other green plants and hardscape. Excellent in Nature-style, jungle-inspired, or paludarium layouts, especially on wood or rock anchors.

Directions

Attach the plant to hardscape such as driftwood or rocks, allowing the rhizome to be exposed to flowing water. This plant is well-suited for low-tech set ups, but a little higher light will help with colouration of the leaves. A good balance of light and nutrients is important to control algae growth on this plant. To propagate, cut the rhizome with at least three leaves and reattach it to hardscape.
