Description
Background

Native to Borneo, Bucephalandra Sp. 'Red' is a highly sought after bucephalandra for its leathery red submersed leaves with wavy margin. The prominent and dense silvery dots on the leaves surface adds character to the plant. It spreads via a creeping to ascending rhizome and branches readily, forming attractive clumps.

Placed in the midground or foreground, its unique leaf colour contrasts beautifully with hardscape, expecially driftwood. Excellent in Nature-style, jungle-inspired, or paludarium layouts, especially on wood or rock anchors.

Directions

Attach the plant to hardscape such as driftwood or rocks, allowing the rhizome to be exposed to flowing water. This plant is well-suited for low-tech set ups, but a little higher light will help with colouration of the leaves. A good balance of light and nutrients is important to control algae growth on this plant. To propagate, cut the rhizome with at least three leaves and reattach it to hardscape.
