Description
Background

Nymphoides hydrophylla 'Taiwan', or Nymphoides Taiwan, is a rosette aquarium plant from Asia. It develops round, rippled green leaves on thin stalks that resemble a miniature lotus. Unlike true lotuses, it stays more compact, making it suitable for aquariums of various sizes. When mature, it can send leaves to the surface, creating a natural shading effect. Its distinct leaf shape and growth pattern add variety and texture, making it an attractive centerpiece or accent plant in aquascaping.

The Taiwan Lotus works well as a focal plant in the midground or background. Its bold, crinkled leaves create contrast against fine-leaved stems and carpets, while its natural shading provides cover for fish and shrimp. A great choice for Nature-style and Dutch-style layouts.

Directions

Plant directly into nutrient rich substrate. Bright light and CO₂ will enhance its growth. Root tabs and good fertilisation will support healthy growth of plant. The plant spreads via runners, daughter plants can be separated and replanted. The surface leaves can be trimmed if not desired.
