Description
Background

Ludwigia sphaerocarpa 'Mini' is a smaller cultivar of the North American species Ludwigia sphaerocarpa, known for its smaller leaves and compact growth. It develops orange to red tones under strong light and CO₂. It is unique because unlike typical vertical stems, it grows low, horizontally, and develops compact, bush-like, creeping crowns. It is used in high-end aquascapes and is a favourite for enthusiasts and collectors.

With a height of around 10–15 cm, it works best as a dense midground bush or accents where its red tones contrast with green stem plants and mosses. Works well in Nature, Dutch, and modern Iwagumi-inspired layouts as a colourful accent.

Directions

Plant stem in substrate and position to ensure that there is not too much shading. This plant is great for planting in cracks and crevices in hardscape. High light, rich and stable nutrients and CO₂ will enhance its red and orange tones.

To propagate, cut healthy tops and replant. Lower nodes will sprout side shoots. Cutting will also promote more vigorous growth.
