Description
Background

Rotala sp. 'Nanjenshan' is a fine-leaved stem plant with narrow, upright growth when grown under water. Under higher lighting, the plant may develop light red or orange tones near the top. Growth is moderate and steady. The narrow leaves give it a lighter texture compared to broader Rotala species, making it suitable for detailed layouts and mixed stem plant groups.

Compared to Rotala indica, Nanjenshan has much finer leaves and higher light requirements. When compared to Rotala H'ra, it remains less red and more subtle in colour. Medium to high lighting is recommended. CO₂ improves growth consistency but is not strictly required. Stable conditions help prevent stunting.

Directions

Plant the stems closely in substrate to create a bushy effect while allowing the plant to grow without shading each other. High light, rich and stable nutrients and CO₂ will enhance its deep red tones.

Cut healthy tops and replant, and lower nodes will sprout side shoots. Cutting will also promote more vigorous growth.
