Description
Background

Anubias nana 'Taiwan' AKA 'Mini Japan' is a compact and hardy epiphyte plant known for its small dark green leaves. It is a relatively new cultivar and somewhat of an exclusive plant. Compared to standard Anubias nana 'Petite', the ‘Taiwan’ variety typically develops slightly thicker but narrower and more compact leaves with denser growth.

Like other Anubias species, 'Taiwan' is extremely forgiving and suitable for beginners as well as experienced aquascapers. It tolerates low lighting, grows steadily without injected CO₂, and adapts well to a wide range of water conditions. While growth is naturally slow, stable fertilisation and added CO₂ can improve leaf size, density, and overall health.

Because of its compact form, 'Taiwan' works especially well in nature aquascapes, low-tech planted tanks, and shrimp-focused aquariums where long-term stability and minimal maintenance are preferred.

Directions

Attach the plant to hardscape such as driftwood or rocks, allowing the rhizome to be exposed to flowing water. This plant is well-suited for low-light set ups and does not mind being shaded by other plants.

To propagate, cut the rhizome with at least three leaves and reattach it to hardscape.
