Description
Background

Bucephalandra 'Lagoon' is an epiphyte aquarium plant with large leaves and that turn purple and iridescent under water. Depending on lighting and water conditions, the foliage can display shades of deep purple, blue and green with a metallic sheen.

Like other Bucephalandra varieties, 'Lagoon' grows from a creeping rhizome and should be attached to wood or stone rather than planted into substrate. It is suitable for low-tech aquariums but benefits greatly from stable CO₂ injection and regular fertilisation, which improve growth speed, leaf quality, and overall colour intensity.

Directions

Plant in substrate or attach the plant to hardscape such as driftwood or rocks, allowing the rhizome to be exposed to flowing water. This plant is well-suited for low-tech set ups, but an RGB light will dramatically help to bring out colouration of the leaves. A good balance of light and nutrients is important to control algae growth on this plant.

To propagate, cut the rhizome with at least three leaves replant.
