Description
Background

Bucephalandra 'Pandora' is rare epiphyte plant that is quickly rising to mainstream popularity due to its amazing large purple and blue leaves. It has has a shimmering and iridescent appearance, along with smooth oval leaves. Perfect for adding detail to an aquarium, and a real collector's piece.

Compared to more common Bucephalandra, ‘Pandora’ has a stronger metallic sheen, and much larger leaves which makes it a unique plant. Under stronger lighting and stable nutrient conditions, the plant can develop more pronounced iridescence and richer colouration. It is well suited to low-tech aquariums and can grow without added CO₂, though CO₂ and stable fertilisation will improve growth rate, leaf size, and overall health.

Directions

Plant in substrate or attach the plant to hardscape such as driftwood or rocks, allowing the rhizome to be exposed to flowing water. This plant is well-suited for low-tech set ups, but an RGB light will dramatically help to bring out colouration of the leaves. A good balance of light and nutrients is important to control algae growth on this plant.

To propagate, cut the rhizome with at least three leaves replant.
