Description
Background

Staurogyne repens is a popular foreground aquarium plant native to South America, especially Brazil. It grows as a low, creeping stem plant with small, fresh green leaves that spread horizontally when trimmed regularly. Known for its resilience, it tolerates a wide range of aquarium conditions and provides a natural, bushy carpet effect when grown in groups.

Staurogyne repens is ideal for foreground carpets or low midground bushes. Its compact form blends well with hardscape elements, making it a great choice for Nature-style and Iwagumi aquascapes. Its strong, green leaves also provide a bold contrast to finer-leaved plants. It can also be used as transition between foreground carpets and bbackground stems.

Directions

Plant directly into substrate 2-3 cm apart individually. Bright light and CO₂ will enhance its growth. The plant spreads horizontally. Side shoots can be trimmed and replanted. Trimming is required to achieve desired bushy or carpeting look.
