Description
Background

Micranthemum umbrosum ‘White’ is an ultra rare variation of Micranthemum umbrosum, known for its pale white to creamy green foliage and soft, rounded leaf shape. The plant produces small, rounded leaves along delicate stems, forming a dense and bushy growth.

This white variety grows more slowly and requires more careful maintenance due to its reduced chlorophyll levels. Under strong lighting, the white colour becomes more pronounced.

Micranthemum umbrosum ‘White’ is best used in the foreground or midground due to its size, and it can utilise its colour to stand out against darker plants and hardscape. When grown in dense groups, it creates a soft, bright focal area that is very eye-catching.

Directions

Plant individual stems into nutrient-rich substrate using tweezers, spacing them apart to allow light penetration and airflow through the group. Position in the foreground or midground where the plant can be trimmed into a compact bush.

Contrary to popular belief, medium lighting is sufficient. CO₂ injection, and regular fertilisation can help to maintain healthy growth and pale colouration. Trim to encourage denser growth and prevent lower sections from becoming shaded. Remove any weak or deteriorating stems promptly during the establishment phase. Stable conditions are essential, as this variety is more delicate than standard green Micranthemum umbrosum.
