Description
Background

Anubias barteri 'Broad White' is a variegated form of the classic Anubias Barteri, displaying white and pale green sections across its leaves. This reduced chlorophyll content results in slower growth compared to standard green varieties, but provides visual contrast in planted aquariums.

Compared to Anubias nana ‘Pinto’, it has much larger leaves and a less compact growth habit, making it better suited to medium or larger aquariums. The plant grows from a thick rhizome and should be attached to hardscape rather than planted. Its larger leaf size makes it suitable for midground placement, where the variegation can be appreciated without overpowering the layout.

Low to moderate lighting is recommended to reduce algae risk. CO₂ is not required, though stable fertilisation helps maintain consistent growth. This plant performs best in aquascapes with stable conditions.

Directions

Attach the plant to hardscape such as driftwood or rocks or plant in substrate, allowing the rhizome to be exposed to flowing water. This plant is well-suited for medium-light set ups and prefers not being shaded by other plants.

To propagate, cut the rhizome with at least three leaves and reattach it to hardscape.
