Description
Background

Rotala rotundifolia 'Wayanad' is a new and rare species of stem plant, likely originating from India. It has bright green leaves and grows outwards under high lighting, almost creeping along the substrate in some cases. As such it can be used in the foreground as a carpeting plant as long as it is trimmed regularly.

Growth is moderate to fast under optimal conditions, and regular trimming encourages compact, bushy growth.

Directions

Plant the stems closely in substrate to create a bushy effect while allowing the plant to grow without shading each other. High light, rich and stable nutrients and CO₂ will enhance its deep red tones.

Cut healthy tops and replant, and lower nodes will sprout side shoots. Cutting will also promote more vigorous growth.
