Description
Background

Anubias 'Angustifolia' is an elegant narrow-leaf epiphyte plant with long deep green leaves that are spear shaped. It is great at creating height in an aquarium and is very popular in nature or jungle style aquariums. It is similar in appearance to Anubias congensis.

Like other Anubias species, it is extremely hardy and suitable for beginners. It tolerates low lighting, does not require CO₂, and grows steadily in a wide range of aquarium conditions. While growth is naturally slow, stable fertilisation and added CO₂ can improve leaf size, growth speed, and overall health.

As an epiphyte, it grows from a horizontal rhizome which stores nutrients and should always remain exposed above the substrate. Epiphytes are valued for their low maintenance requirements and ability to thrive in shaded aquarium areas.

Directions

Attach Anubias 'Angustifolia' to driftwood, rocks, or other hardscape using thread or aquarium-safe glue. Do not bury the rhizome in substrate, as this can cause the plant to rot. Place it in low to medium lighting with gentle to moderate water flow. CO₂ is optional but can improve growth and leaf development.

Dose liquid fertilisers regularly for best long-term health and remove older leaves as needed. Stable water conditions and shaded placement will help minimise algae forming on the slow-growing leaves.

To propagate, cut the rhizome with at least three leaves and reattach it to hardscape.
