Description
Background

Bacopa monnieri ‘White’ is a rare and eye-catching stem plant with pale white, cream, and light green variegated leaves. Its bright foliage creates strong contrast within planted aquariums and works especially well alongside darker green plants, red stems, and natural hardscape materials.

Compared to standard Bacopa monnieri, the ‘White’ form grows slower and can be more sensitive due to its reduced chlorophyll content. It is also shorter in height and can therefore be placed in the foreground as a stem plant.

Under stronger lighting, the white and cream tones become more pronounced, while lower light may cause greener growth and reduced variegation. Although CO₂ is not strictly essential, stable CO₂ injection and regular fertilisation will improve growth rate, leaf quality, and overall fullness. Like most stem plants, Bacopa absorbs nutrients mainly from the water column and responds well to regular trimming and maintenance.

Directions

Plant individual stems into nutrient-rich substrate with small spacing between each stem to allow light penetration and water flow. Avoid planting stems too densely at first.

Medium to high lighting is recommended, alongside regular fertilisation and stable CO₂ injection for best colour and compact growth. Trim frequently to encourage bushier growth and replant healthy tops as needed.
