Description
Background

Cabomba furcata (AKA Cabomba piauhyensis) is a beautiful and distinctive stem plant known for its finely divided leaves and vibrant reddish to pink colouration. Its delicate, feathery foliage creates a soft texture in planted aquarium backgrounds and provides contrast to broad-leaved species.

The plant grows upright with thin stems and whorls of finely branched leaves. Under strong lighting and favourable conditions, Cabomba furcata develops rich pink, red, and orange tones, particularly near the upper portions of the plant where light intensity is highest.

Compared to other fine-leaved species such as Myriophyllum mattogrossense, C. furcata has more vibrant colour. However, it is also more demanding and can be less forgiving if conditions are unstable. Lower lighting or poor nutrient balance may cause the plant to turn green, become leggy, or shed lower leaves.

Directions

Plant individual stems into nutrient-rich substrate using tweezers, spacing them slightly apart to allow light to reach the lower portions of the plant. Position in the background where it has room to grow tall and spread naturally.

Provide strong lighting, stable CO₂ injection, and regular fertilisation to maintain healthy growth and vibrant colouration. Trim tops regularly and replant healthy cuttings to create fuller groups and prevent lower leaves from deteriorating.
