Cryptocoryne wendtii ‘Green’ is one of the most popular aquarium crypts, native to Sri Lanka. It is appreciated for its compact growth, undulating green leaves, and exceptional hardiness. An excellent midground aquarium plant, Cryptocoryne wendtii ‘Green’ provides lush greenery that balances more colorful or fine-textured plants. It fits seamlessly into nature-style aquascapes, offering a natural, grounded look that softens hardscape lines and creates depth.

Plant the crypt directly into the substrate. They can be planted closely to form a bush. Cryptocorynes go through a melt phase while converting from emerged plant. In some cases, aquarists trim away emersed leaves, leaving the rhizomes and roots before planting, this prevents the melted leaves from increasing waste organics in the tank. Roots can be trimmed shorter too for ease of planting. Moderate lighting and CO₂ enhances the growth. It is a heavy root feeder, root tabs or rich aquasoil is helpful for its growth. It spreads via runners, spread and replant when a dense clump has formed.
