Description
Background

Eleocharis pusilla ‘Mini’ is a delicate, low-growing carpeting plant that forms a dense, natural grass-like lawn in planted aquariums. With its fine blades and compact height, it is perfect for foreground layouts, nano tanks, and detailed aquascapes.

It grows best under medium to high lighting and shows faster, thicker spread when CO₂ and nutrients are provided, though it can adapt to lower-tech setups. Regular trimming encourages horizontal growth and helps maintain a neat, uniform carpet. Ideal for creating depth, scale, and a clean natural look in any planted aquarium.

Directions

Separate into small clumps and plant them 2–3 cm apart to encourage even spreading. The plant will naturally spread across the substrate via runners.

There are two main trimming methods. The easier but messier method is to trim the blades close to the substrate using scissors. While simple, the cut leaves tend to float in the water, are difficult to remove, and may contribute to algae growth.

The more precise method involves inserting the scissors into the substrate to cut and remove the runners directly. This approach leaves less organic waste in the water and makes trimmed material easier to remove.
