Description
Background

Eriocaulon sp. 'Vietnam' is an aquatic plant with bright green blade-like leaves and crowns. It is similar in appearance to Blyxa Japonica but has firmer leaves. It can be grown in clumps and dense bushes which is why it is popular amongst aquascapers, especially due to its larger size than similar plants in appearance.

It is hardier than most Eriocaulons and more accessible in the hobby. This species is significantly easier to grow than most other Eriocaulon varieties and is notably more tolerant of moderately hard water, unlike many of its more demanding relatives. It is also tolerant of over-crowding, and can be kept in more shaded areas of the aquarium.

Directions

Plant and anchor roots firmly into substrate as this plant tends to be quite buoyant. Ensure there is at least medium levels of lighting, and regular fertilisation. CO2 injection would help the plant grow fuller and more resilient.

It will naturally grow new crowns and split into daughters plants over time. To propagate simply remove these daughter plants once large enough and replant. It grows outwards and its footprint size will increase if left undisturbed.
