Description
Background

Guppy Grass (Najas guadalupensis) is one of the easiest and fastest-growing aquatic plants available. It is versatile, hardy, and great at providing shelter for fish and shrimp. Its soft, branching stems form dense masses of bright green foliage that create natural hiding. Due to its rapid growth and adaptability, it has become a favourite amongst breeders and aquarists looking for a reliable, low-maintenance plant.

Unlike most stem plants, Guppy Grass does not necessarily need to be planted into the substrate. It can be left floating freely, attached loosely amongst hardscape. This flexibility makes it suitable for a wide range of aquarium styles.

Guppy Grass thrives under a wide range of conditions and can grow successfully without CO₂ injection or specialised fertilisation. Under stronger lighting and nutrient-rich conditions, growth becomes exceptionally vigorous, often requiring regular thinning.

Directions

Guppy Grass can be floated freely on the water surface or planted loosely into the substrate. Regular trimming may be necessary as the plant grows rapidly and can quickly fill available space. Remove excess growth periodically to maintain water circulation and light penetration.
