Description
Background

Hydrocotyle tripartita ‘Mini Variegated’ is a super rare and highly decorative variation of the popular Hydrocotyle tripartita, distinguished by its small, clover-like leaves with white and light green variegation. The species was only introduced into the hobby very recently.

It is best used as a foreground or low midground plant, where it forms a creeping, spreading carpet when regularly trimmed. Moderate to high lighting is required to maintain strong variegation, and is recommended for compact growth and healthy runners.

This plant feeds primarily from the water column and benefits from regular fertilisation. Growth is moderate, and frequent trimming helps prevent vertical growth while encouraging lateral spread.

Directions

Separate the plant into small clumps and plant them into the substrate or attach it to hardscape with string. It spreads via runners across the substrate and water column. Usage of CO₂ and higher lighting will encourage faster growth and a more compact carpet.

Frequent trimming will prevent overgrowth and promote side shoots. The plant has a tendency to grow long runners which can be cut back to promote bushier growth.
