Hygrophila corymbosa 'Siamensis 53B' - Plant

Hygrophila corymbosa ‘Siamensis 53B’ is a robust and attractive stem plant known for its narrow green leaves, vigorous growth, and excellent adaptability. It is a cultivated form of the popular Hygrophila corymbosa group and is particularly well suited to aquarists looking for a dependable plant that quickly establishes into healthy, substantial groups.

The plant develops upright stems lined with elongated, pointed leaves in fresh shades of light to medium green. Under good lighting, the foliage becomes particularly lush and compact, while regular trimming encourages numerous side shoots and creates a dense, bushy appearance. Its relatively substantial leaves make ‘Siamensis 53B’ useful for adding structure and volume amongst finer-leaved stem plants.

Compared with the standard Hygrophila corymbosa, ‘Siamensis 53B’ generally has narrower foliage and a more refined appearance, making it easier to incorporate into aquascapes.

Plant individual stems directly into the substrate, leaving some space between each stem for light and water circulation. Low to moderate lighting is sufficient, although stronger lighting encourages denser and more compact growth. CO₂ injection is not required but will increase growth rate and overall vigour. Provide regular liquid fertilisation to support its relatively fast growth.

Trim taller stems periodically to encourage branching and maintain a bushier shape. Healthy trimmed tops can be replanted to expand the group.
