Description
Background

Hygrophila Pinnatifida is a unique aquatic plant from India, known for its deeply lobed, fern-like leaves that display olive-green to reddish-brown hues. Higher light will turn it redder. Unlike most stem plants, it has a creeping growth habit and can attach itself to hardscape.

It is highly versatile, often used in the background or attached to rocks and wood to mimic epiphytic plants. Its unusual leaf texture and growth style make it an excellent accent plant, adding depth and contrast in aquascaping layouts.

Directions

Plant the stems into the substrate, and it will grow quickly once established. Alternatively, attach the stem onto driftwood or stone to mimic ephiphytic plants. Can be tricky to transition from emersed form. Strong light, stable CO₂, and nitrate limitation will bring out the best colour of this plant.

Cut healthy tops and replant, and lower nodes will sprout side shoots readily.
