Description
Background

Microsorum pteropus 'Narrow', also known as Java Fern Narrow, is a cultivated variety from Southeast Asia. Compared to the standard Java Fern, it has slimmer, elongated leaves that grow more upright, creating a graceful, flowing appearance in aquascapes.

Like other Java Ferns, it is hardy, thrives in low-tech aquariums, and requires no substrate planting, making it a favourite for aquascapers who attach plants to driftwood and stones. Its unique leaf shape adds vertical texture and movement in planted tanks.

Directions

Attach the plant to hardscape such as driftwood or rocks, allowing the rhizome to be exposed to flowing water. This plant is well-suited for low-light set ups and does not mind being shaded by other plants.

To propagate, cut the rhizome with at least three leaves and reattach it to hardscape. Plantlets might form on the older or dying leaves. They can be plucked and replanted when they mature.
