Description
Background

Pogostemon ‘Fireworks’ is a spectacular stem plant admired for its extremely fine foliage and striking colour contrast. The plant produces slender needle-like leaves that radiate from the stem in dense spirals, creating a firework-like appearance that gives the species its name. Under favourable conditions, the upper growth develops vibrant shades of pink, orange, red, and bronze, making it a standout feature in any high-energy aquascape.

Compared to Pogostemon erectus, ‘Fireworks’ develops much finer foliage and significantly stronger red and orange colouration. It also appears softer and more delicate than Limnophila species, producing a more refined texture.

This species performs best in nutrient-rich, high-tech aquariums where strong lighting, regular fertilisation, and stable CO₂ are available. Under lower light conditions, stems may become greener and more open in growth. Regular trimming encourages branching and helps develop dense, colourful groups that showcase the plant at its best.

Directions

Plant individual stems into the substrate with adequate spacing to allow light penetration and water circulation. Provide strong lighting, stable CO₂ injection, and comprehensive fertilisation for the best colouration and compact growth.

Trim regularly to encourage side shoots and denser bush formation. Replant healthy tops after trimming to maintain fullness and expand plant groups. Ensure good flow throughout the aquarium to prevent debris accumulation within the fine foliage.
