Description
Background

Pogostemon helferi originates from Thailand where it grows along riverbanks and submerged stream beds. Its distinctive curly, rosette-shaped leaves make it one of the most unusual and decorative foreground plants in aquascaping. It grows compact and bushy, spreading into small clusters that provide a lush green foreground.

Pogostemon helferi is an excellent foreground plant, offering unique curly textures that contrast beautifully with smooth carpets like Monte Carlo or HC Cuba. Its star-like shape makes it ideal for Nature-style and Dutch aquascapes, where it serves as a lively accent or mini centrepiece in the front of the tank.

Directions

Plant it directly in substrate in groups. This plant does not like to be shadowed. A slightly higher GH is preferred. Strong light, stable CO₂, and adequate nutrients will bring out the best form of this plant. It can be propagated by cutting and replanting healthy side shoots. Trim outer rosettes to keep clusters tidy.
