Description
Background

Rotala Rotundifolia is a beginner friendly stem plant originating from Southeast Asia. Despite its name that means rounded leaves, its leaves are more oval than round when grown submerged. Under low light, it displays a fresh green colour, but with higher light and CO₂ it transforms into warm pink to deep red hues. Its adaptability and fast growth make it a favourite for beginners and advanced aquascapers alike.

It is a perfect background plant, its dense, bushy growth contrasts beautifully with green foliage and carpets. Perfect for Dutch-style layouts for colour grouping purposes and Nature aquascapes.

Directions

Plant the stems closely in groups of 2-3 stems with sufficient space between groups. This plant can tolerate slight overcrowding, therefore it can be planted closer for a bushier effect. Although this plant can be grown in non-CO₂ set ups, strong light, stable CO₂, and nitrate limitation will bring out the best colour of this plant.

Cut healthy tops and replant, and lower nodes will sprout side shoots. This plant require frequent trimmings due to its fast growth rate to prevent shading of lower leaves.
