Description
Background

Syngonanthus macrocaulon is a rare and distinctive stem plant with vibrant green foliage and star-shaped growth pattern. Originating from South America, this species produces long, narrow leaves that radiate outward from a central rosette.

The plant typically grows to a medium height, making it suitable for midground or background placement where its unique form can be appreciated without overwhelming surrounding plants. Compared with Syngonanthus sp. ‘Belem’, S. macrocaulon generally grows taller and displays longer, more structured leaves.

It is actually not a demanding species in terms of lighting or CO₂ injection, however it does require soft water to grow. Higher lighting and fertilisation will bring larger and fuller growth.

Directions

Plant in soil for best results. Roots should be fully buried, and even part of the stem can be beneath the soil. It will grow extensive roots as it matures which may branch out.

It will naturally develop daughter plants from its side which can be manually removed and planted.
