Description
Background

Taxiphyllum sp. ‘Taiwan’, commonly known as Taiwan Moss, is a soft aquarium moss with delicate branching growth and vibrant green colouration. Its fine texture and naturally flowing appearance make it a favourite in many aquariums.

Compared to Java Moss, Taiwan Moss grows in a more refined and organised pattern with finer branching and a softer appearance. Its compact growth also makes it popular for moss walls, tree-style aquascapes, and carpeting over rocks.

Taiwan Moss is hardy and adaptable, suitable for both beginner and experienced hobbyists. It grows well in low-tech aquariums without CO₂. Regular trimming helps maintain a tidy appearance and prevents thicker layers from trapping debris over time. It also provides excellent cover for shrimp and fry within planted aquariums.

Directions

Attach to hardscape such as wood or stone using thread or aquarium-safe glue. Do not bury it in substrate. Place in areas with gentle flow to prevent debris build-up.

Low to medium lighting is sufficient, though higher light and CO2 will promote denser growth. Keep the moss moist during planting and ensure it is securely fixed in place. Trim lightly over time to maintain a compact carpet and encourage new growth.
